The Oracle at Delphi says “Know Thyself”, and part of finding happiness in anything you do is just that, knowing yourself.
Passion often drives people to success. If you are passionate about something, it moves you, it motivates you. Without passion, can there really be determination? We have all heard “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”. For many people, however, when the going gets tough, they give up. Without passion, it is easy to walk away from challenges. With passion, however, you are far more likely to see something through to completion. The key, therefore, is discovering your passions. Your path in life will be much more enjoyable if you love what it is that you are doing. When you know what it is you would “love” to do in life, and you pursue that path, work is play. You will look forward to waking in the morning and heading to work. If your passions are extracurricular activities, and not work, then they are pleasant diversions, it helps to have both. I look forward to heading to work every day and I look forward to heading home afterward. Know Thyself… know your passions. If you don’t find at least one, then try remembering the dreams you had as a child. Make a list of them. Do any of those still ignite a fire in you? If so, you might have discovered a passion you never knew you had. |
