Motivation is one of the keys to success. How can you tell if someone is motivated?
Motivated people tend to walk with energy. They are bright-eyed and alert. They are typically the first to jump at a new challenge or new opportunity. When you see someone zipping around the office or plant and they seem to get lots of work done, you know that they are motivated. You can tell a lot about a person by what they do for recreation. Motivated people work hard and play hard, too. Lazy people wouldn’t dream of taking up cycling. Lazy people would rather sit and watch television than go hiking or take a walk in a nearby park. If you see someone in good physical condition, someone who walks with a spring in their step, someone who always seems to be busy when you call, you can bet they are motivated. If you are in a position to hire someone, ask them what they do for recreation. If they are energetic, you can tell by their answer. There is an old saying: “Want to get something done? Ask a busy person.” Busy people manage their time better. Beware of anyone with plenty of time on their hands. |
